Meet the Team
Maggie
Owner & Founder
Maggie opened the Pottery Place over 20 years ago inspired by offering a space where absolutely anyone could create something beautiful, regardless of artistic background.

Nowadays, the Pottery Place is a much loved Witney institution. Maggie splits her time between pottery and her sister studio: The Indian Block Print Co. near Bicester, which she runs with her two daughters Tess and Annabel.
Holly
Studio Manager
Holly is our unstoppable whirlwind: she keeps the whole Pottery Place running like a well-oiled (and beautifully glazed) machine. From planning workshops to restocking shelves, and setting up our mobile studio. After 7 years as Studio Manager at The Indian Block Print Co, she brought her magic to pottery in 2024.

She’s also the creative behind her side line HollyB, a nature inspired giftware brand that features both block printing and pottery painting styles across a range of unique pieces. When not at the shop, she’s out on a run chasing after her scruffy sidekick Percy.
Kiela
Lead Artist & Studio Assistant
Kiela has been with us the longest: from Saturday girl to Lead Artist, she’s grown with the studio and now paints much of the stunning artwork you see on our shelves, Etsy, and commissions. She also runs our Artist Series workshops, where she guides painters of all levels to create beautiful, professional-style pieces with confidence.
Whether you’re a total beginner or a seasoned painter, Kiela will help you bring your vision to life. She works from our attic studio, always with great music on and holiday dreams in the air. When not painting masterpieces, you’ll find her sipping wine and soaking up her well-earned downtime.
Kelsey
Studio & Kiln Assistant
You’ll probably meet Kelsey first in the studio when you visit! She’s the bright, friendly face who’ll get you settled in and guide you through your painting adventure with expert tips. She’s a jack-of-all-trades in the shop, helping with everything from glazing and firing your pottery to running workshops and parties, as well as running our TikTok. When she’s not helping you find the perfect colour combo, she’s planning her next holiday or getting competitive at bingo night.
Rhiannon
Artist & Studio Assistant
Rhiannon is everyone’s favourite and it’s easy to see why. Sweet as a muffin (and often bringing some in too), she’s a part-time artist in the studio with a heart of gold and a serious talent for pottery painting. When she’s not with us, she’s working as a baker and, lucky for us, there are usually a few leftover treats that magically appear in the staff kitchen. She’s an animal lover through and through, with a special soft spot for bees, and her hair is always just as fabulous as she is.
Percy
Shop Dog
Our beloved Percy is the unofficial boss of The Pottery Place. A Bedlington Terrier-Whippet mix with serious charm, Percy is always around to say hello, accept treats, and greet his little pals from the local area. If you’re in Witney, you’ve probably seen him mooching about with his signature scruff and waggy tail. He’s definitely the favourite on the team... but don’t tell Holly.
Aga
Kiln Operator & Studio Assistant
Aga is our glazing guru and kiln queen: every piece of pottery passes through their steady hands before it’s fired to perfection. Whether it’s a commissioned design or your child’s first painted piece, Aga ensures it’s glazed, packed, and finished beautifully.
They’re also our go-to expert for baby and pet prints: somehow managing to get the clearest, cutest prints every time, even with the wiggliest of customers! Outside the studio, they’re a talented illustrator creating imaginative characters and concept art and at work, they’re never far from their beloved coffee.
Sarah
Artist & Studio Assistant
Since 2021, Sarah has worn many hats at The Pottery Place and while she’s now part-time, she still brings so much heart and talent to the studio. She loves painting intricate and detailed commissions for you to enjoy. Sarah is responsible for the cheesy puns featured on our Instagram, and helps Kiela with our Wednesday artist workshops. Outside the shop, she’s a professional artist known for her realistic pet portraits and gorgeous animal-themed homeware (find her on Instagram sarah_graceart). She also is self taught using the potters wheel and spent a summer teaching ceramics at an American summer camp
Phoebe
Junior Studio Assistant
Phoebe is our longest-standing junior and a true natural when it comes to balancing studio life. While excelling in her A-levels, she brought professionalism and energy to the shop and now that she’s finished studying, you’ll be seeing a lot more of her around here. Phoebe knows the ins and outs of the studio like no one else and keeps everything running smoothly. When she’s not helping customers or keeping the vibe upbeat, she’s out enjoying time with friends or winding down with a well deserved night out.
